Stainless Steel Pipe 316l Seamless is a low carbon version of the 316 material. The pipes are used in sea water and marine applications with excessive welding needs primarily. The chromium, nickel and 4% molybdenum content provides the Stainless Steel Pipe 316l Seamless with high corrosion resistance against chloride ions and other general corrosive agents. The material is similarly strong to the 303 grade with 205MPa minimum yield strength and 515MPa minimum tensile strength. The SS 316L Welded Pipe is one of the most commonly used because of the welding ease.

The pipes can be welded with most conventional methods without preheating or filler materials. This is useful for ASTM A312 TP 316L ERW Pipe because of the high temperature and pressure applications it has to go through. The less carbon content also prevents the pipes from developing localized corrosion due to intergranular corrosion. This is possible because the ASME SA 312 Grade 316L Square Pipe has less carbide precipitation during welding. The square pipes are particularly used for their geometric strength. Therefore these are used in structural applications mostly than in functional cases.

The 316L stainless steel exhaust pipe does not corrode under high temperatures. The material has high temperature tolerance up to 870 degrees Celsius.
