ASTM A335 P9 Pipe is used in oil refineries, machine building, fertilizer, sugar, oil and gas and power generation industries for its high temperature service capabilities. The P9 Pipe Material has carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, chromium and molybdenum in the composition. The 8-10% chromium content in the composition provides the material with high corrosion resistance properties. The P9 Chrome Pipe can withstand creep and pitting better than the other grades of the A335 specification. Since the carbon content is at 0.15%, the material has to be preheated before welding.
The Material A335 Gr P9 Pipe also has to be post weld heat treated to make sure that there are no welding cracks. The pipe sizes range from ¼ inches to 24 inches. The Sa335 P9 Material can produce pipes in schedules ranging from sch40 through 160 and XXS. These are different pressure capacities.
