ASTM A335 P91 Pipe has two different types. There are type 1 and type 2. The type 2 is the most used. The material composition includes carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, 8% chromium and molybdenum in the major part. Multi Metals (India) is a leading manufacturer of the ASTM A335 P91 Pipe in different dimensions and shapes. There are more alloying elements in smaller quantities such as the vanadium, nitrogen, nickel, aluminum, columbium, titanium and zirconium in the composition. The pipes come under the A335 standard. But the forged or bored pipes can also come under A369.
The Material P91 Pipe is used in power generation, gas processing equipment, boilers, heaters and reheater lines and in most oil services. The welding of the pipes need preheating of the pipes. Also post baking is an optional procedure for these pipes. The material also has to be cooled below 100 degrees Celsius after welding before application. The P91 Seamless Pipe gets minimum 585MPa tensile strength and minimum 415MPa minimum yield strength from the composition of the material. The chromium and molybdenum contents are mostly responsible for the increased strength and corrosion resistance of the P91 Steel Pipe types.
They come in 1/8 inches to 24 inches in nominal bore sizes. The outer diameter and the wall thicknesses vary and they account for the schedules varying from sch20 to XXS. The wall thickness of the P91 Chrome Pipe can range from 2mm to 14mm and the length can range up to 16000mm. There are round, square, rectangular, hydraulic and other forms of the pipes with plain, beveled and threaded ends.
